WADAN was created by a group of Afghans in 2002, as hopes were high after the fall of the Taliban and the collapse of their repressive government. Our first project was the UNODC funded “UN Day Against Drug Abuse” in Gardez City, Paktia Province in June 2003. Over the following years, WADAN has become a respected Afghan NGO in drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation. Our successfully implemented projects include those in education, civic education, peace building and dispute resolution, women’s issues and child safety to name some topics. “WADAN is an organization with a heart; WADAN truly cares about the people who are the beneficiaries of its work” is a compliment we have heard. WADAN cares.
